Immigration Update
Dream & Promise Act Of 2019
We have received questions and comments about H.R. Bill no. 6, also known as, the Dream and Promise Act of 2019. A bill is just a proposal not a law approved by Congress. This proposal combines longstanding efforts to provide a roadmap to U.S. citizenship for undocumented individuals who have or are eligible for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), temporary protected status (TPS) or Deferred Enforced Departure (DED).
Cardboard Kids On Display!
Last month we shared information about Cardboard Kids, an awareness campaign created by Child Safe Bexar County.
In 2017, there were 5,588 confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect in Bexar County.
To bring awareness to this incredibly urgent issue, ChildSafe created the Cardboard Kids Campaign. Cardboard Kids are 2-foot tall cardboard figures shaped like children that represent one of the thousands of children that are abused and neglected at the hands of adults in our community each year.
Welcome Lupita To The Team!
Join us in welcoming Lupita to the team. Lupita is our receptionist at the firm. Lupita is the first person you see when you come to our office to partner with us in your immigration journey, Lupita is there to guide you to your appointment of if you have a general question, Lupita can guide you in the right direction.
Lupita is a graduate of Trinity International University and is most excited about her new role in immigration as she will fulfill her servant-leadership nature of helping others while working in the legal field.
“I am looking forward to creating new relationships with my fellow team members. I am also excited to learn more about the different steps our clients face when working towards their US citizenship. My parents were both born in Mexico and came to the US when they were really young. I helped my father with his journey towards becoming a citizen, studying for the test etc. (we used note cards) it was great! I want to be able to be a part of helping others towards their journey also. I believe we are all one people, no matter what part of the world we come from.”
